Regenerative Treatments
Regenerative treatments are treatments that harness your own bodies ability to heal itself. The most common treatments currently being used in orthopaedics are PRP, stem cell therapy, and marrow stimulation. Many other types of technology are actively being research in the lab.
The FDA provides some guidance on this technology to ensure patient safety. There are a lot of unscrupulous medical providers in the world selling regenerative treatments that have no support for their use, no reassurance that there are any active cells or adequate concentration of factors to expect a benefit, and in some cases dangerous procedures.
At the Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics, Dr. Faucett routinely utilizes platelet rich plasma, and bone marrow aspirate concentration. These two technologies have a good track record of studies to prove the efficacy in specific conditions and most importantly their safety. Furthermore, their use when appropriate is compliant with the FDA guidelines.
